CHILTON and Brigadier General JOHN H. WINDER, [n. p., but near Fredericksburg, Va.,], entitled: "List of Prisoners Paroled by D. B. Bridgford by order of Lt. Genl. [Stonewall] Jackson." The document contains a list of approximately 210 released Union soldiers who were declared paroled during the Fredericksburg campaign between November 13 through December 17, 1862 by order of General "Stonewall" Jackson. Georgia", along with notable future anarchist activist, Dyer D. Lum of the 121st New York Infantry. Secretary of War James Seddon gets involved and his adjutant general Major Charles H. Lee, referred the case to Agent Robert Ould for investigation. Finally, on January 20th, after going through Ould's hands Brigadier General John H. Winder confidently applies his signature to his docket while declaring "…these men have all been delivered here." ROBERT H. CHILTON (1815-1879) Confederate brigadier general, Lee's chief of staff. He signed the famous "lost order" of the Antietam campaign and led forces at the Wilderness and Spotsylvania. VG
