Color engraved portrait of Confederate General Robert E. Lee , 21”x27-1/4” with facsimilie signatures of Lee and Pendleton. Engraved by A.B. Walter from”A Photo From Life" and “Sold by authority of the Lee Memorial Association for the erection of a monument at the Tomb of Gen. Robt. E. Lee at Washington & Lee University Lexington Va." 1870 by Bradley and Co. Framed. Fine condition. The Lee Memorial Association was formed in 1870 to develop a suitable monument to Robert E. Lee following his death. Its work eventually resulted in the recumbent statue of Lee by Edward Valentine which was unveiled in the expanded Lee Chapel at Washington and Lee in 1883....plus; Color engraved portrait of Confederate General Stonewall Jackson , 21”x27-1/4” with facsimilie signatures of Jackson and Governor Letcher. Engraved by A.B. Walter from”A Photo From Life" and “Sold by authority of the Jackson Monument Association for the purpose of erecting a Monument to the memory of Genl. Thomas J. Jackson at the Virginia Military Institute Lexington, Va." 1871 by Bradley and Co. Framed. Fine condition.
