A great Trans-Mississippi UCV letter, 1p. 4to., written, on printed BEDFORD FORREST CAMP, U. C. V. NO. 1609, United Confederate Veterans" stationery, by Veteran Jesse B. Ratliff, formerly of the 26th Texas Cavalry as adjutant of the Bedford Forrest Post, Liberty Hill, Texas in 1915, to UCV General Henry G. Ashew a veteran who served in the 2nd Texas State Cavalry, reading, in part: "…we appreciate this kindness very much…our delegates will go to Houston in time to join the Dowlin special train for Richmond. We regret so much you cant go to this reunion. You have done so much for our Brigade since you have been our commander. We want you to get some pleasure after all this hard work…J. B. Ratliff."
