Lot of 73 issues of Horace Greeley’s N.Y. Tribune from January 1-March 30, 1861. The pre-war content carries much speculation and politics of the pending outbreak of hostilities from both the north and the “Pro-Slavery Rebellion” states (South Carolina and evacuation of Fort Sumter, news from Virginia and the Southern Congress in Montgomery, Ala.), as well as pre- and post-Lincoln inauguration news. Issues also have small tidbits such as ads for the Barnum Museum, reports from anti-slavery societies). Overall condition has some foxing, toning outside edges. Removed from volume with some issues ragged at sides, but not to detract from historic content and the chill the modern reader can get knowing what this is all leading up to.
