A great war-date Union soldier's letter, 1p. 4to., written by Pvt. Robert A. Hubbel, Co. K, 14th New York State Vols., "Camp Bettie Black, 62nd Penn. Vols.", [Va.], Feb. 28, 1862, reading, in part: "We have our knapsacks packed and expect to move tonight…for Centreville…we are to attack Manassas…Smith's division on our right are now moving and Banks on the Maryland side is crossing…we will have some where in the vicinity of 100,000 or 120,000 and we will not…attack until they are brought up…out scouts report that Centreville is evacuated…no trouble will be had this side of that…but at Manassas we…will meet a large force well entrenched…R.
