Lots of news from the war front as well as home front, being a Washington, DC publication with Congressional reports and signed-in-type communcations from President Lincoln. Highlights include: 2/20: The Fall of Fort Donelson; 3/8: Communication, signed in type by President Lincoln, to consider giving financial aid to any state that adopts gradual abolition of slavery; 3/13: three Pres. Lincoln orders regarding conduct of the war; 3/18: The Flight from Manassas; 4/10: Surrender of Island No. 10; 3/24: Siege of Fort Macon; 5/1: The Siege of Yorktown; 5/3: Capture of New Orleans, Fort Macon; 5/6: Evacuation of Yorktown; 5/10: Capture of Yorktown and Battle of Williamsburg; 5/12: The Merrimac Blown Up, Capture of Norfolk; 5/20: Black volunteers on the heels of the Gen. Fremont proclamation; 5/27: The Advance of Ge. McClellan; 6/21: Slavery in the Territories; 10/21: Skirmish on Blackwater River; 11/1: The Capture of Galveston; 11/6: The Battle of Perryville.
