Pair of war-date Autograph Letters Signed, one by J.W. Alvord, 1pp. octavo, Washington, November 17, 1862, addressed to Reverend A.H. Quint, Chaplain of the 2nd Mass with cover and reads “I enclose letter received and have ascertained at Adj. Gen’s Office that Taylor was wounded and taken last May at Winchester. Can find nothing further do you know any more about him, where his now & c...” Fine condition...plus; ALS by Abby Taylor addressed to Rev. Alvord, 1pp. quarto, November 12, 1862, and reads in part: “...Can you give me any information about my son Elbridge G. Taylor 2nd Mass Vol Co I he has been missing since last May. We received a letter from Henry C. Ames stating that he died in Richmond on Aug the 16 last, and Nov 7 we received a letter from the Adjutant General at Washington stating that my sone was a paroled wounded prisoner of war...” Fine condition. Unfortunatley Elbridge Taylor , 2nd Mass Infantry, was taken prisoner at Winchester May 25, 1862 and died in Richmond in August, 1862. (2 items)
