War-date Union Document Signed “E.D. Townsend” 1pp. quarto, War Department, August 6, 1863, detailing for court “Captain John C. Hopper Addl. A.D.C.” and issued to Capt. Hopper, then under General Fremont, in a role where he was the chief of the scouts and spies, while facing off General Stonewall Jackson during his Valley campaign. Fine condition.
