Hockaday” 1p. quarto, Columbia, Missiouri, January 13, 1863, in part: “...I see gold is still rising, & will still go, as I think, a good deal higher, & Treasury warrants will go lower, under this state of Care, you may prefer to invest, what warrants, you have on hand & may likely shortly receive in gold, rather than risk their farther deprecittion, which I would by all means advise, if you have much surplus...” Very Good.
