A good war-date Union artilleryman's letter, 2pp. 4to., written by Pvt. Henry D. Isbell, Battery A, 1st Ohio Light Artillery [MWIA Chickamauga, Ga., 9/19/64; DOW 10/16/64 buried in Chattanooga National Cemetery], Camp Drake, [Murfreesboro, Tenn.], June 9, 1863, in part: "Our sergeant wants…you [to] get him a watch when you get mine…he wants a patent seven watch worth about twenty or twenty two dollars. He can pay me for it and then I could send the money to you by mail. I don't like the plan very well myself but…charge him some extra and I think you can get two a little cheaper than one…he should have a watch for he has to borrow every time he is on guard…Henry D. Isbell, Batt. "A" 1st Reg. O. L. A." VG
