Great war-date Union Army Grand Review letter, 3pp. 4to., issued by Major General Henry W. Slocum, commander Army of Georgia, Alexandria, Va., May 22, 1865, being Special Order No. 2, reading, in small part: "…the corps of this army will not be moved from their present camps…to make the Review…the 20th Army Corps will move from its present camp on Wednesday morning at 5…and will march in Review as prescribed…the 20th Corps will be followed by the 14th Army Corps…the troops…will be massed as close as possible east of the canal…as soon as the Army of Tennessee shall have drawn out. The troops will march by close column right in front, guide left…the battalions will form columns by divisions. After the Army of the Tennessee shall have drawn out. The head of the column will follow, marching around the Capitol and down Pennsylvania Avenue…past the reviewing stand in front of the President's House and thence the new camp east of the Potomac River. All colors will be unfurled from the Capitol to a point beyond the President's reviewing stand. The commanders of Corps and Divisions…will dismount after passing the commanding general and join him whilst his corps…is passing…all officers will present swords on passing the Reviewing officer, but company officers will make no salutes. Brigade bands…will turn out and play as their brigade passes by the reviewing officer…the colors of each regiment…will salute by dropping…the reviewing officer…the march will be continued with as little interruption as possible…Major Genl. Mower will establish guides along the line…to be relieved by the corps following…utmost care must be taken to prevent blocking of the columns in front of the reviewing stand…commanders will have their commanders take the double quick after passing the reviewing stand…knapsacks and other property will be conveyed by wagons to the new camps…after the completion of the review…". Signed and made official by Adjutant Daniel Titus, Artillery Battalion, 14th Army Corps and Lt. Clinton Keller, 19th Indiana Light Artillery. Near fine.
