A good fall of Richmond, Virginia April 1865 Civil War manuscript document, 1p. 4to., issued by the command of Major General Godfrey Weitzel appointing Major Charles Warren 11th Connecticut Vols. as assistant provost marshall of the Confederacy's fall capitol, reading, in part: "Head Quarters Detachment, Army of the James, Richmond, Va., April 5, 1865…Major Charles Warren…is hereby detailed as assistant Provost Marshal, City of Richmond and will report to Colonel & Bvt. Brig. Genl. Ripley commanding Provost Guard for instructions." Also included is a war-date CDV showing Major Warren as a captain standing with a sword and arms folded, signed on the verso: "Chas. Warren, Capt. 11th Conn. Vols." by Filley & Gilbert, New Haven. Trimmed at the bottom, else both VG
