Front covers include 7/16/1881: Reinforcing the anchorage of the Niagara suspension bridge; 6/22/1895: Hunting tiger at night with electric light; 2/5/1898: Working on NY water supply, the new Croton Dam; 1/13/1900: The 70,000 horsepower station of the Metropolitan Street Railway Company; 3/24/1900: Six photos of the filtration plant for Albany, NY for removal of typhoid bacteria; 10/6/1900: Manufacture of coal gas at the 14th Street station in New York; 7/6/1901: Six photos of excavation from the Jerome Park Reservoir for the water supply to New York. Scientific America boasts its presentation of “practical information, art, science, mechanics, chemistry and manufactures.” Contains all manner of new innovations for a growing country. Issues generally in good shape.
