Rare broadside extra, dated July 2 (1881) being the day he was shot. Measures 3 ¼" x 9", fine. The piece, being a recent find in Ohio, was printed by the "Register Extra", and provides the most recent information on the shooting of the President. At one point it states that the President is dead, then goes on to state that the wound is not mortal. It also states that the shooter has been arrested. These extras were printed, many times with incorrect information, as soon as information was available. Garfield did eventually die from his wound on September 19th.
