A site sacred to American history, it was here the Declaration was signed on July 4, 1776, its Liberty Bell ringing four days later proclaiming the birth of a new nation. It was here that the Continental Congress drafted the Constitution following the Revolutionary War. When in 1897 renovation became necessary, certain of the original oak and cedar beams removed were stored for preservation. On two occasions pieces of the beams were taken in presentation to world leaders and to the National Park Service. Present is a Limited Edition 1"x½" segment taken from the original cedar beams of Independence Hall offered by Barnes of Boston in 1976 marking the nation's Bicentennial. Presented in a handsome tri-part folding collectors case, on which are reproduced facsimile gilt signatures of the Signers of the Declaration. The numbered wood segment, "2107" is housed in a small case at center with brass plaque. A marvelous historic heirloom from the time of the Founding Fathers.
