Broadside, “N.J. Patriot -- Extra”, 7” x 10”, 3 columns, VG. The broadside calls out the New Jersey congressman, Isaac T. Nichols, in several respects. Under the column head , Mr. Nichols vs the African Race, they quote Nichols as saying “I have been doing all I can for the past ten years to elevate the niggers and finally succeeded in getting the right to enjoy every priviledge I enjoy. then when it comes to running for a little petty office every damned one of them went back on me. I want nothing more to do with them. Damded them, they may all go to hell ....”
