Confederate Document Signed “Jno. C. Richardson” 1pp. quarto, June 1, 1862, witnessed by Major Wm. Terry, Comdg. Post, Strausburg, Virginia, and reads in part: “...I, John C. Richardson of Shenandoah County, Virginia, do hereby solemnly swear that I will faithfully support the constitution of the State of Virginia and also of the Confederate States of America, and I also renounce all allegiance ...to the government of the United States of America...” Fine condition. Brigadier General William Terry (1824-1888) was a nineteenth-century politician, lawyer, teacher, and soldier from Virginia and the last commander of the famed Stonewall Brigade during the American Civil War. He was wounded three time during the Civil War.
