War-date Confederate officer’s Autograph Letter Signed “B.F. Haller” 1pp. quarto, Columbus, Mississippi, August 27, 1863, and reads in part: “...I was ordered to assume the position of Provost Marshal....Genl Piller is here. He is making things howl - he is getting every man between eighteen and forty five....I hear that all persons remaining in Memphis have taken the oath of allegiance, lady’s included, at least those who are at the head of familys...” Fine condition.
