War-date Confederate soldier Autograph Letter Signed “C.M. Anderson” 1pp. quarto, Camp Gregg, Near Fredericksburg, April 29, 1863, and reads in part: “...The Yankees is crossing the river at Fredericksburg at this time. I can hear the cannons & muskets very plain. The small arms commenced this morning about day light, and they have been regular firing ever since and there is some regiments marching now at this time. They came across the river in squads this morning, and our men fired on them below, and the first thing our men knowed, they was in the rear of our men. They had a very hard fight this morning up there. We have had orders to be ready to march...I think they will attack us in three places, right in front & on the right and left flank both, and if they do, I don’t know how it will turn out. They may be too hard for us...” Fine condition.
