Confederate imprint on necessity paper, being an unsigned printed letter, addressed “DEAR SIR” 3pp. quarto, January 10th, 1864, and reads in part: “...I will say, That, in the distracted state of our country, there is no Constitution at present, but State necessity; and no practical Government but the Government of the Army and its Commander-in-Chief. The struggle is for existence...You must separate the whole power to regulate currency...All Government is an evil, and we only submit to it because it prevents a greater evil, which is anarchy...” Much more. Unusual. Very good condition.
