DEKAY, Drake (1836-1886), aide-de-camp to General Joseph K.F. Mansfield, was commissioned 1st Lieutenant 14th Infantry on May 14, 1861. By 1864, he had received promotions to captain, major and lieutenant colonel for gallant and meritorious service at the battles of the Wilderness and Spotsylvania. War-date partly-printed Union pass signed “Drake De Kay” 1pp. oblong octavo, June 13, 1861, Washington, D.C. and passes E. Wadworth over the bridge and within the lines. Fine condition.
