War-date Union officer Autograph Letter Signed “G.P. Smorte” ADC, 1pp. quarto, Head Quarters Madrid Bend, March 13, 1862, addressed to Captain Seely, and reads “The General commanding instructs me to say he desires you to start a commissioned officer and ten men to the Station opposite New Madrid...as speedily as possible, with instructions to keep most vigiliant watch and report...every important movement of the enemy on tomorrow...” Fine condition.
