A rare Civil War battlefield issued, 2pp. 4to., partly-printed, document being a Union military ordnance acquisition statement that was accomplished upon the battlefield of Williamsburg, Virginia on May 5th, 1862. Signed by Brevet Brigadier General JOHN WILLIAN (1835-1869) as commander of Co. D, 6th New Jersey Vols., after his regiment's commander, Major George C. Burling, gave "verbal orders" on the battlefield to supply his company's sixty-eight men with arms, equipment, and 3000 rounds of ammunition. Interestingly, these men were, at that time, armed with .69 Harpers Ferry smooth bore muskets! Near fine.
