War-date Union soldier’s Autograph Letter Signed, “H. Whipple” 2pp. quarto, pencil, addresssed to a colonel and reads in part: “...A rocket has been sent up by the enemy in the direction of Edward Ferry...no camp fire visible on either side. The orderly sergeant of Co. G thinks he discovered a masked battery 1 1/2 miles below here which commands the canal....2 covered wagson were drawn up from Leesburg towards their guns late this afternoon...” More. Fine condition.
