A great war-date Confederate captain's request for arms, 2pp. 8vo., letter written by Capt. Dave Love, Co. "Ate", 1st (King's) Mississippi State Troops, Vaiden, Miss., March 5, 1863, to "Chief of Ordnance", reading, in part: "On the return of Capt. Duning…shipped from Granada about the first of Jany. I ma 2 muskets short, 10 cartridge box…if you will notice the…nomber was maid out and then scratch of[f] as Lt. [John W.] Suber was only willing to receipt for the box as he had no time to examine the contents but overlooked the guns…you will please forward the 2 guns, 10 cat. box, 13 cap box by Capt. J. Duning [Quartermaster John Dunning]…D. Love, Capt. Co. Ate 1st Regt. M. S. T. [Mississippi State Troops]." VG
