Letter press military document, oblong 1p. 8vo., on heavy stock, reading, in part: "Headquarters, Department of the South, Hilton Head, S. C., Aug. 22, 1864. General Orders, No. 122. The number of idle persons, of both sexes, found loitering around the Camp and Posts of the Districts of Beaufort and Hilton Head, is subversive of good order…and is fruitful of vice and disease. The Provost Marshals…are therefore, directed to arrest all such persons either white or black, within Military lines…the Provost Marshals will also report all colored persons arrested…to the Superintendent of Contrabands, and will hold them subject to his orders...by command of Major-General J.
