War-date Union general Autogrpah Letter Signed “Jno. P. Hatch Brig Gen. Comdg” 1pp. quarto, July 1, 1864, addressed to Colonel W.W.H. Davis, and reads “You will commence embarking your command including the 144th N.Y. at 4:30PM. We will try and sail precisely at sunset.” Followed by ships names and the units that will be aboard them. Fine condition. HATCH, John Porter (1822-1901) was a career American soldier who served as general in the Union Army during the American Civil War. He received a Medal of Honor for gallantry in action at the September 1862 Battle of South Mountain during the Maryland Campaign.
