War-date Union General Orders No. 57, signed by 2nd Lieutenant Silas Hannum of Massachusetts, who had service with 31st Mass., 74th & 91st US Colored Infantry and the 10th Colored Heavy Artillery, 1pp. octavo, Department of the Gulf, New Orleans, May 15, 1865, and reads in part: ...All commercial, or other intercourse, with the country west of the Mississippi River, beyond the limits of actual military occupation, is forbidden...” Issued by Command of Major General Banks. Fine condition.
