Rare John Wilkes Booth tintype in titled CDV mat, titled "J. Wilkes Booth, The Assassin", published by Pond & Hambleton, Buffalo, NY. Measures 2 ?" x 4". Mount has some light age, tintype is excellent. Issued shortly after the assassination of President Lincoln. Auction records to $1,300.00 (Heritage auction June 7, 2006 political auction, lot #25409, realizing $1,314.00). All tintypes of JWB are considered rare and desirable, this example being one of the rarest due to its association with the assassination. An exceedingly rare assassination piece.
