Civilian letter, 4-1/2 pp., Guilford, Ohio, April 28, 1865 written to Joseph Overholt, Bucks County Pennsylvania, VG. The writer thanks his friend for a recent letter and relates the details of his recent plowing inury. friendly chatter. BUT, he adsd a halph page which reads in full, “I have heard some good news today a man was here and said that they have catched Booth the Murderer of Abram Lincoln and also the Assassin of Secretary Seward. This man also said that they shot Booth because he did not let them take him. I hope they have got him and all that had a hand in it.” Original cover included.
