An early post-assassination Lincoln mourning song sheet, 1p. 8vo., published by Charles Magnus, Philadelphia, 1865, with portrait of the fallen president flanked by a weeping soldier and two distraught women, entitled: "The Nation Mourns." The poem, then, reading, in part: "From all churches sad and slow toll the bells…knells of woe. Hark! their sad and solemn notes attend Abraham Lincoln to his last way's end. Dead silence mutely hovers above grave's dreary strand, with sable pall it covers The Leader of Our Land. Despairing men are wringing…their hands…the Orphan's wail is winning…true patriots tears are rolling…on the mossy tomb." Near fine.
