Union veteran Frank E. Brownell remembers Union martyr Col. Elmer E. Ellsworth in a lecture to Chicago's Union Veteran Club being a circa 1880, theater lecture announcement broadside, approximately 5" x 15", "Hershey Music Hall, Thursday, April 15, FRANK E. BROWNELL will deliver a highly interesting and instructive lecture on the Life, Character and Patriotic services of COL. E. E. ELLSWORTH including the thrilling circumstances of the death of this darling favorite of the American People…for the benefit of the Chicago UNION VETERAN CLUB…". With tickets fifty cents each Brownell was to appear at the Chicago Music Company and to remind the residents of Chicago of their link with Ellsworth the broadside declares, in part: "Chicago contributed this brilliant young soldier to the great cause in which he so early gave out his life and has always jealously revered…an ardent pride in his memory…Captain Brownell, known as his avenger, has carefully prepared from his diary and personal papers of Col.
