During the country’s Centennial in 1876, President U.S. Grant offered a message of faith to the children and youth of the nation. The message was printed in the Sunday School Times. Also issued were these small cards, likely given to children, with the message. The card measures 2 ½" x 3”, fine. Grant asks the children to "Hold fast to the Bible as the sheet-anchor of your liberties"....and ends with "Righteousness exalteth a nation; but sin is a reproach to any people." A great relic from the last year of Grant's Presidency.
