These six (6) documents are all Signed “E(verett) D(umas) Nix” and include: DS, payment voucher, March 18, 1895, “bringing in Wash Renfro.; DS, payment voucher, July 17, 1893, “place under arrest, Walcot,”. ; DS, payment voucher, July 13, 1893, for “stealing timber from Indian allotment.”; DS, payment voucher, July 27, 1893, for “stealing timber from Indian allotment.”; DS, payment voucher,August 11, 1893, warrants for “Black Coffee et al,”.; DS, payment voucher, July 26, 1893, for warrant for Jacob Smallwood, violating the Internal Revenue ...” Edward Dumas Nix (1861-1946) was a United States Marshal in the late 19th century handling the jurisdiction that included the wild Oklahoma Territory, later to be the state of Oklahoma. He was first appointed in 1893, in the closing years of the Old West, during the last years of the "Hanging Judge" Parker tenure. Nix led the posse that fought in the Ingalls, Oklahoma Shoot-out and was primarily responsible for the capture and killing of the members of the Doolin-Dalton Gang. One of the documents is separated along fold, others intact.
