Carboard Printed Poster, 15” x 17”, with a chest-up image of “Dr. W. F. Carver”, in near fine condition. Surrounding carver are six vignettes ihncluding of course, the diving horse attraction. William Frank "Doc" Carver (1851-1927) was a late 19th-century sharpshooter and the creator of a popular diving horse attraction. Allegedly, in 1881 Carver was crossing a bridge over Platte River (Nebraska) which partially collapsed. His horse fell/dived into the waters below, inspiring Carver to develop the diving horse act. Carver trained various animals and went on tour.
