A Colorful handbill, 5” x 3”,“S.H. Barrett” showing a horse “Charger Bringing His Master A Chair,” advertising the Grand Opera Performance ofBANDIT KING, January 1, 1884. Fine. The cast mentions Mr. J.H. Wallick as Jesse James.A period newspaper reports “Wallick has had a curious career as a showman. He commenced with a shoestring, it may be said, and persevered till he had secured a pair of boots. His first coup was getting possession of the horse on which Jesse James rode when he was engaged in bank robberies, holding up trains and other acts of lawlessness. "The Bandit King" if, we believe, made up and takes its name from the exploits of the James boys when they were in the height of their success and terrorized the country east of the mountains. The fleetness and staunchness of Jesse’s horse has been recorded in song and story. “
