War-date Confederate soldier Autograph Letter Signed by Granville Smith, 8th Kentucky Cavalry, 3pp. quarto, Elberton, Georgia, November 3, 1863, addressed to Captain Isaac Shelby in Chatanooga, and reads in part: “...I have been here since my retreat from Tennessee about two months...I should have written to you sooner but have not been able to find out where your command was...give me the news you an confidentialy and if any from Kentuck or elsewhere...and if John H. Morgan has been exchanged or not and when they will get to their command. I have a good many relation in his command ...” Fine condition.
