War-date Confederate Document Signed “S.A. Durham Capt.” 1pp oblong octavo, Head-Quarters, Marion Courth House, South Carolina, April 1, 1863, and reads “W.H. Witherat is hereby exempt from military duty, by reson of his being a school teacher.” Fine condition. S.A. Durham served with the 23rd South Carolina Infantry.
