War-date Union Document Signed “Bernard Mercer” 2nd Pennsylvania Heavy Artillery, 1pp. 12mo, on field printed stationary, Head Quarters Military Commandant, Sub District Dept. of Virignia,, Hicksford, Virginia, June 3, 1865, stating the loyalty oath was taken by Andrew Briggs, of Sussex County, Virginia. Fine condition. An Andrew Briggs of Sussex County did serve with the 5th & 13th Virginia Cavalry.
