SEDDON, James A. (1815-1880) was an American lawyer and politician who served two terms as a Representative in the U.S. Congress, as a member of the Democratic Party. He was appointed Confederate States Secretary of War by Jefferson Davis during the American Civil War. War-date Manuscript Letter Signed “J.A. Seddon” 1pp. octavo, Confederate States of America, War Department, Richmond, Virginia, February 3, 1865, passing Mrs. Emma Solomon and her daughter to New Orleans. Fine condition.
