Berry of New Hampshire was in camp today...[4/6]A Grand Review of the Cavalry Corps of the Army of the Potomac at Gen. Stoneman’s Headquarters by the President...[5/4] Secretary Chase arrived in the city this evening...[5/15] Went to see Tom Thumb & wife...[5/27] Went to Alexandria at 10 am. The boat was loaded with seven hundred Negroes - contraband of war...[5/29] Was arrested by Lt. Col. Thompson in morning. Released in one hour...[6/15] The REbels are in Chambersburg tonight...[Every entry from June 17 through June 26 talks of Rebels in Pennsylvania] ...[7/20] Called on Governor Smith & on Col. Sayres & on Mr. Childs...[8/19] I received authority to recruit for the 3rd Cavalry today...” Much more. Very good condition.
