Unusual war-date Autograph Letter Signed “D.S. Dix” 1pp. octavo, on “Office of Women Nurses, U.S. Hospital Service” letterhead, June 29, 1864, Washington D.C., and reads in part: “... I regret while forwarding the certificate of Mrs. Moore to return the application of Surgeon Bontecome for approval of Mrs. Barnes & Mrs. Gould, both having fully proved unfit to be employed in Hospital Ward service...” Very good condition.
