Group of three (3) war-date Union soldier Autograph Letters Signed, includes: ALS by Harry Ridgway, Co. E, 199th Pennsylvania Vols, 3pp. octavo, Camp in the Field, February 22, 1865, with cover, and reads in part: “...It being yours and Washington’s birthday, I thought I would write...Your birthday was celebrated very highly in the 24th Army Corps and by me individually. This morning I came off picket duty and 4 Rebs came over and I asked one what troops and who they are under. We’re in front of Richmond and he told me Kershaw’s Division under Genl. Longstreet composed mostly of Mississippi troops. The genls and staff officers were up here inspecting the lines and I expect there will be a big battle soon...” Fine condition...plus; ALS by W.A. Rogers, Co. G, 55th Ohio Vols, 4pp. octavo, Chester, Pennsylvania, November 27, 1862, and reads in part: “...I do not expect to get to the regt for some time yet. I see that I cannot use my leg as well as I could before I saw Bull Run...I do not think that McClellan is a traitor but all are liable to make mistakes. I think his cautions amount almost to imbecility...” Fine condition. ALS by Herman Stevens, 109th New York Infantry, 3pp. octavo, Near Petersburg, Virginia, August 11, 1864, and reads in part: “...I would like to be there now rather than down here laying in these miserable rifle pits watching the Rebs and expecting every minute to have a ball hit me. I have been very lucky so far. The nearest I ever came to get hit was a ball went through my cap. It is awful warm down here and the flys is so thick that we can not take one minute peace. Between the Rebs and flys I tell you we have to fight nearly all the time...” Fine condition. (3 items)
