War-date Union soldier Autograph Letter by H.F. Rohrer, 4pp. octavo, Branch Barracks, Lincoln Hospital, April 8, 1865, and reads in part: “...A friend of mine of the 88th N.Y.V. was over from Harewood Hospital to see me. He left City Point a week ago & saw my letters there. Hasnt this been a week of glory. Everybody in Washington is frantic. Tuesday evening there was a magnificient illumination & procession down the city. Sober honest men so crazy with joy they couldn’t contain themselves. Andy Johnson has made out to keep sober in public and he has made a some splendid speeches. His speech on Monday wiped out all the disgrace of Inauguration Day. We expect to be filled up with wounded immediately...” Fine condition.
