Capital Stock, 9-1/2” x 4-1/4,” Tombstone Con'd. Gold & Silver Mining Co., 60,000 Shares, June 30, 1881, Tombstone Mining District, Cashise Co., A.T. This is number #43, a pristine copy printed by the San Francisco printer Le Count Bros. In the contemporary work on the Territory, Patrick Hamilton's The Resources of Arizona, he notes they owned the Lucky Cuss and Tough Nut which was discovered by Ed Sheiffelin in 1878 who was told instead of gold he would find instead the recent graves of the white settlers so he jokingly named it Tombstone. In B.J. Devere's Land of Cochise he tells the early history in the 1878-1881 era. Cochise was consistently spelled Cachise in the Territory up through the late 1880's. Of course, the gunfight at the O.K. Corral would occur within months, October 26. 1881.
