WILLIAMS, Seth (1822-1866) was an American military officer who served as assistant adjutant general of the Union's Army of the Potomac during the American Civil War. War-date Letter Signed “S.Williams” 1pp. octavo, July 30, 1862, and reads in part: “...Being informed by Commodore Wilkes, that the Navy needs at once thirty seamen to meet the present emergency, the General commanding desires you to report imemdiately whether any of your men are willing to volunteer for this service...” Fine condition.
