War-date Union soldier Autograph Letter Signed John L 3rd Massachusetts Heavy Artillery, 2pp. octavo, March, Fort Lincoln, Washington D.C., and reads in part: “...I have been at work taking down the piles of shot and shelsl inthe fort and clean them and then pile them up again...an old niggar came a long and Frank asked him where he was a going he said he was a going into the City to see Massa Lincoln he said Massa Lincoln owned all the colored people now...” Fine condition.
