Nice group of four (4) war-date Autograph Letters Signed by Bradford F. Thompson, 112th Illinois Infantry, who enlisted as a lieutenant and exited as captain, in part: “... [7/6/1863 Somerset, Kentucky]Considerable fears are felt in camp and by citizens in town in regard to rebels being west of Somerset, but I think we shall get along with them. You will hear of the Jamestown fight by the newspapers. We have heard cheering news from our armies in Pennsylvania and Virginia...[11/12/1863, camp near Knoxville, Tennessee]It is now decided by Gen. Burnside that he will not dismount our regiment will give us cavalry arms. He complimented us very much for the charge we made at Sweetwater....[11/13/1863 Camp near Knoxville]I have been down town twice today and shall probably go down again before night. I went down first on business with Maj. Wells of 1st E. Tenn Battery and the second time to see Lt. Chamberlain Post Quartermaster about having our horses shod at government shops. Knoxville is quite a fine town...[7/23/1863 Camp near Danville, Kentucky] I am not afraid of being forgotten by you. I know you love me too well to forget me, as I love you too well to forget you even for an hour...I hope you will never forget me...” All very good condition.
