Rare war-date Union sailor's letter, 3pp. 8vo., written by "W. A. Wilson, U. S. S. Frigate Minnesota," May 20, 1864, to his uncle, in part: "…there is about two transports arrive here daily with troops for Butler's army. There are steamers running constantly between here and City Point transporting sick, wounded and prisoners. The steamer Thomas Powell is here…your ever loving nephew W. A. Wilson. U. S. Frigate Minnesota…". Also included is the original stamped transmittal cover. Overall VG
