Large military commission on parchment, 15" x 19" with blue seal to lower left. Dated "Twenty Fourth day of December, 1907", signed by President Theodore Roosevelt as "Theodore Roosevelt". Parchment is toned with grubbiness along outer margins. Right side with water damage which buckled and discolored the parchment. The text remains unaffected, however there is bleeding to Roosevelt's signature. A lovely example of a Roosevelt signed Military commission. This example appoints Avery J. Cooper, to "First Lieutenant in the Artillery Corps". Cooper served in the Artillery Corps and later the Coast Artillery Corps.
